Official Warped Tour Report
Jul. 13th, 2006 03:51 pm2006-07-07
Nothing new to report from the real world these last few days, I've cloistered myself up from the outsided world for a bit before reentering the fray by becoming employed again and later maybe some summer classes. Its rather looking like I'm going to go back into bee busting.
Anyway, the Warped Tour report is still pending. Basically I went to table for the Secular Student Association, which is an umbrella organization for all the campus atheist/agnostic/etc clubs. With me at the table was my friend Jack, whom I met at the Atheist Alliance International Convention last year, and his younger sister.
Being a nonprofit "vendor" we got to park in the special VIP parking for free, and receive magic wristband's which made security guards leave us alone under most circumstances. Incidently, I was able to walk into Warped Tour through an unguarded gate before I had my wristband, with no problem at all.
Our table was next to one selling plush bats & ghosts, which were selling like hotcakes. Made me think we really ought to have plush Darwin fish made. Someone take note.
I was able to take the "semi-aerial" pictures from on top of the nearby bleachers thanks to the magic VIP wristbands - just walked resolutely past several security guards who looked like they were there to stop anyone from going that way. Then I explored an underground tunnel that came up in the middle of the event, with several security guards posted at it. I was sure even I wasnt' supposed to be there but I walked as if I had a purpose and went unwaylaid.
I randomly ran into Hannah Westergard & Camille ("Anna[ Leloup]'s friend") there. Otherwise though, on account of Pomona being a bit of a ways away I didnt' see anyone I knew.
In addition ot Against Me!, I also really liked this band called "Left Alone."
Also of note, they were giving out free monster energy drinks at this monster truck that had a corral of barriers around it, and we were instructed we couldn't leave the enclosure with our monster. WTF? Jack & I smuggled our drinks out of the enclosure. It felt silly doing that for something that wasn't even alcoholic.
Since the only liqued available for free was monster we ended up drinking an exorbitant amount of it. By the end of the day I was friend from sunburn, weazing from the extensive smog in Pomona, and generally exhausted. But then when I got home and went to bed I couldn't sleep for the life of me becuase of the monster! And I couldn't do anything on the computer that used my brain at all becuase I was exhausted!

On the night of 06-06-28, still in Davis, Kristy & I hung out with Sashie, Chris "C-Bunch" Bunch, & Anthony, as is often the case. However on this particular occasion, an impromptu dance party erupted and continued for at least an hour. I finally got around to putting the pictures up. I still have pictures from (1) Coleman's birthday party on the 29th and (2) Jenn de la Vega's Goodbye Party on the 4th to edit & put up.
