As you should recall relations between Chad and Sudan had flared up into a state of war regarding overflow of violence from the Sudanese region of Darfur (which borders Chad) but was resolved two months ago by the Libya sponsored Tripoli Agreement. The precipitating violence was carried out not only by Darfur antogonists the ganja-weed Janjaweed Militia, but rebels within Chad who call themselves F.U.C.K. and are believed to be urged on by Sudan.

Now I bring this up again because war has resumed ... and I've been covering the story at least as well as anything else you're gonna hear about it so I might as well keep it up.
In early March the Janjaweed Rebels got the munchies and crossed the border with a shopping list that included "700 camels, 1,000 cows and 1,500 sheep,"1. The Chadian army was able to chase the Janjaweed back to Sudan & recapture the livestock. This incident caused tension but did not precipitate war as the Janjaweed's purpose is to oppress people in Darfur (therefore thouhg Sudan-backed, not a Sudan-backed Chadian rebel force), and is ostensibly not under the control of Sudan. Janjaweed emosnail informants report that they were driven to such measures by the recent withdrawel of UC Davis investment.
Last Thursday, however, a large force of F.U.C forces launched an assault on the Chadian capitol, almost capturing the national assembly before being driven back. There were 400 deaths including both sides & civilians. This caused Chad to go "oh no you didn't!" broke off relations with Sudan again, and threatened to return to Sudan the 200,000 Sudanese refugees they are sheltering.
Additionally, the Central African Republic, --a place I bet you didn't know existed-- which shares borders with Chad & Sudan, got pissed off that the rebels crossed their territory on their way to the party, & closed its borders with Sudan.
The Janjaweed still have the munchies.

So for reallies this time I'm leaving today. Current plan is to make a five hour dash down to the family cabin in Tweedy, which is near The Grapevine.

Cabin certainly doesn't have internet so I'll be out of touch with the blogosphere. I think I might be able to make a phone post or so though.. I'm not sure how long I'll be there. But when I come out again, I'll be in OC.

My carmobile has been acting particularly shoddy lately so I'm a bit skeptical about whether or not it will survive. Which is such sauce because while I am confident I can survive when the car breaks down in Coalinga, I'm planning on bringing the two rats, Leia & Delilah with me. Its much harder to get around without a car in the middle of nowhere with two pet rats, and I don't want them to overheat )=

And I feel endlessly behind in terms of getting ready to leave here, which is weird because all my entries from around this time from one or two years ago talk about how I can't wait to get out of here at the first moment its feasible.

In Other News: apparently The Man intends to demolish the wooden structure at Little Big People Park1. It met regulations when I was on the renovations committee three years ago and I'd imagine it still does, The Man was just itching to get rid of it.. probably figured I'd graduated this June when I was supposed to and He could bulldoze my park with me unawares!
1The wooden structure isn't pictured on Daviswiki, mainly because the geodesic dome outshines it in photogenicity. I was actually at the park the day before yesterday though and have a picture or two I'll put up.

But basically because I'm trying to finish all this shiznas and leave this livejournal entry is just a bunch of fluff. Everything I wanted to write required some kind of preparation, as decent megeblogtastic posts should, so I just sat down and started writing.

Year Ago Today: Declared Goal # 17 - Get more comments. Which as noted in last entry, I was fairly succeessful at. Also polling indicates 66% of the readers want more tales of debauchery (--would eat words year later!), followed by a 42% demand for megabloggery and theorizing, least interest in underbloggery.

My internet connection was down all afternoon yesterday, because its awesome like that. We can only imagine the amazing livejournal entry I would have made at that time if I had internet access. Seriously think about it. Pretty awesome no? Okay anyway, here are some more harrowing tales of being in a rush:

Rush -- Day II
On Tuesday the Phi Alpha Delta rush event was an example of the LSAT preparation courses they can get. This guy from “Testmasters,” an LSAT preparation course, talked to us about taking the LSAT and the Testmasters course. It was pretty cool. Competitive Mingling ensued thereafter.

Rush -- Day III
Wednesday’s event was a BBQ in Primaro Grove. While mingling there, someone thanked me for the design of Oxford Circle (Little Big People) Park; a connection they presumably made from the Daviswiki.

Rush -- Day IV
Thursday (today) rush week ends with interviews. Shortly after my interrogation they will no doubt issue a verdict of “not strong enough sauce,” this little adventure in fraternity life will come to an end, and we will return to our normal programming (the eternal pursuit of polling shadiness) here at Emosnail.

Friday I craved of the hot dog, so I ventured down to Hot Dogger down-town and got myself a hot-link. Then I hung out with Gena in the Oxford Circle ("Little Big People") Park. I was so proud to see people hanging out on the equipment there (I had a large part in designing it while on the City of Davis Renovations Sub-Committee for Oxford Circle Park).
Friday night Kristy and I went to party with Sloshie, Colleen, Nessa, Nizzle, et al in La Salle. It was just a low key event at their place with a small number of people, but there was rampant partying going on all over the complext at large. A nearby party even had a keg of guinness.
On Saturday I ate lunch/breakfast (at 2pm) with Kristy at Posh Bagel, then headed over to Cafe Roma for an executive meeting of the Agnostic & Atheist Student Assn (AGASA) ("You've got answers, we've got questions").

A Firetruck
THIS entry mentions the most infamous Emosnail protagonist and this livejournal; and would be interesting to anyone who likes reading about the antics of the ASUCD government, or would be curious to read about ASUCD purchasing a firetruck.
Note of course that it is not necessarily an objective dissertion on its subject and as such Emosnail does not necessarily endorse any opinions stated or implied in the article except for the last line (" And might I say, Kristy looked might-ee fine at the Senate meeting ;)").

Professor Quotes
"Would that be... hella?" -Professor Siverson. Class proceeds to stare at him blankly. Someone in the front row whispers to him. Siverson says "oh. Would that be hella cool?" class bursts into applause.
"Would you say this air conditioning is adequate.... or would you say its pretty fuckin weak?" -Lecturer Avrom Brown.

Unrelated
The first part of our POL121 final shall consist of but two parts. One: come up with a question. Two: answer it. We're talking multipage essay type question here. Siverson is a cruel cruel man.
